If you could get abs in a few hours, then everyone would have them… well, everyone does have them, but most can’t see them. Anyway, I digress. The point is, if it were easy to have visually appealing abs, then everyone would be walking around with a defined six pack, however as we know that’s not the case and that’s because getting abs takes a lot of hard work.
Let me dispel a few common myths about how to get abs.
1) You can get abs by doing exercises
This is the largest myth possible. For the majority of people, doing situps, using ab machines or doing any other type of ab exercises will not get you the shredded six pack that you’re looking for. As I stated above, everyone already has abs, but the problem is is that they are hidden. To make your six pack visible, you need to get rid of the fat that is covering your abs. This means that you need to eat less, do more cardio and weight lifting.
If you find that the fat covering your abs is less than a quarter of an inch and you still can’t see your six pack, then your problem is that you need to make your abdominal muscles larger. Do this by using heavier weights to make them grow.
2) You can do spot removal
This is absolutely false. There is no way to choose where you want to lose your fat. If you want to get abs, then you need to be willing to do the hard work and lose the body fat everywhere. If you have love handles, then the only way to remove them is by doing more cardio and changing your diet and eating habits. You don’t necessarily need to eat less all together, however the best way would be to eat multiple meals in smaller portions. This will allow you to not have to cut back entirely on what you eat and feel starving throughout the day. Also, eating multiple meals allows you to keep your metabolism going which will allow you to continue burning more calories.
3) To get a six pack, you should buy some sort of ab device
You don’t need to buy any devices or machines to help with making your six pack more visible. It’s wishful thinking to believe that these devices are the magic bullet to help with defining your midsection. If you really think those models with their well defined six pack really achieved defined abs by using these machines that they advertise for, then I also have a bridge to sell you. Again, if it were as simple as throwing a bit of money, everyone would have a great well defined six pack. Don’t be fooled into thinking that you’ll get a fantastic set of abs by using these devices.
Tons of people want to have well defined abs, but the problem is that they go about it the wrong way. To get abs, you need to come up with a nutrition plan as well as a cardiovascular training plan. Doing tons of exercises specifically for your midsection or getting special machines won’t do much for allowing anyone to see your abdomen. Only hard work, grit and determination will get you to the promised land.
